I live in a village in south Leicestershire with my lovely husband Steve, my gorgeous golden retriever Jasmine and on weekends when possible, we enjoy having Steve’s son Tom ‘Boy Wonder' come stay with us.
I fell in love with glass
30 years ago when at Swansea School of Art where I trained professionally in Architectural Stained Glass. I was known as Daisy and my business name is homage to the very happy times I spent there. I was lucky enough to work overseas in several studios where I honed my craft. However, having to earn a living as a Design teacher meant I left glass for a while, but my love for the discipline was rekindled on a visit to Northumberland a few years ago and consequently after gaining qualifications in Fused Glass I set up the Daisyglass studio.
I’ve developed my style and technique from many hours of study, drawing, experimentation and lots of mistakes! I work predominantly using fused glass techniques, but am happy to do stained glass too and my ambition in the future is to begin to combine the two.
As with many artisan products, every piece I make, even those of the same design are inevitably different and I always feel I’m giving part of myself to the work. Working in Education, I’ve always enjoyed teaching young people and last year I ventured into teaching adults fused glass techniques for the first time; this has proved to be fun, popular and successful with many returnees and fully booked classes.
I hope you enjoy looking through my collections and please don’t hesitate to contact me should you see anything of interest…
