NEWS…AUTUMN

On 22nd August I went with my friend Annie to the opening of the Fifteen x Fifteen exhibition celebrating examples of contemporary glass hosted by Blowfish Gallery in Stourbridge which is running until 22nd October 2026. The challenge for artists was to submit a unique pieces of glass art no larger than 15cm H x 15cm W x 15cm D! I was thrilled be accepted from over 140 applications with my piece ‘Onaka Ga Suita’ which uses symbolism and metaphors around the topics of infertility, family and legacy.

The International Festival of Glass bienale returned this year at The World of Glass in St. Helens from the 27th & 31st of August. I was fortunate to be able to visit with my wonderful glassy friend Carla Harris Marsh and we had the best time. It was so interesting to see such a variety of work at the highest level. We watched an amazing demonstration by Laura Quinn who creates sculptural pieces using a combination of glass blowing and lampworking techniques… two processes I have absolutely no experience in! And we were incredibly lucky to meet the lovely Opal Seabrook who’s quirky style is very much rooted in Pop Art and who was awarded best in show for her piece ‘Duelling Ray Guns!“

UPCOMING EVENTS…

October…

My first event of the autumn sees me exhibiting at the Autumn Artisan Fair at Beaumanor Hall, Leicestershire, LE12 8TX on Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th of October. This is a lovely Victorian building in a rural setting and with plentiful free parking. It’s my first time exhibiting at this event so I’m looking forward to seeing some new faces… tickets available from the link above.

Attenborough Arts present their 2nd Craft & Art Fair of the year on 31st October from 11am - 4pm. The Attenborough Arts Centre is part of Leicester University and is located on Lancaster Road, LE1 7HA, free parking available. There will be over 50 selected artists exhibiting their work for you to meet, browse and hopefully buy from.The standard of work on offer is high and varied, so hopefully there will be something for everyone!

November…

The 14th and 15th of November will see us exhibiting at Art Unequalled, The Maltings, Ship Lane, Ely, CB7 4BB for the first time in three years. This has always been a favourite show of mine as not only is it full of incredibly talented makers, it’s in a beautiful building set in the gorgeous Cathedral City of Ely. The cathedral is a medieval building and breathtakingly beautiful in its own right, but as an added bonus, it also happens to currently house the Stained Glass Museum where I have whiled away a few hours over the years. Annie is coming with me and we’ll be sampling the delights of the local Travelodge…. it perhaps won’t have the same grandeur as the cathedral methinks!

I will be at Leicester Guildhall, Guildhall Lane,LE1 5FQ on the weekend of the 28th & 29th November for their annual Christmas Craft Fair, 11am-4.30pm. This ancient building creates a magical atmosphere and in the Great Hall there is always a fire crackling away and bringing some much needed warmth to the old stone and timber room….. I always wonder if walls could talk, what we would find out? There will be a good selection of high quality hand crafted products available to help with Christmas shopping!

December…

My final event of the year sees me at Leicester Cathedral on the evening of Friday 4th December for Christmas Shopping Under the Stars and all day Saturday 5th December for their Christmas Market. Being in the Cathedral so close to Christmas will generate all those festive feelings!
